So I havent updated in awhile, so Ill fill everyone in on what has been going on. Last Thursday Kaesyn had a follow up with our PCP, he still sounded awful, and was wheezing like crazy. She sent us to childrens mercy in KC since he wasnt responding to at home medications. We got to CM and they just pretty much sent us home the next day, and said to follow up with our pulmonologist since we had an appt scheduled already for Tuesday, Feb 2nd. So Tuesday comes up, and the pulmonolgist decides to admit him, since he STILL sounded horrible and in so they could get all these procedures done to figure out what is going on. Wednesday they sedated him and did a CT scan, they found a few things that they would usually find in an asthma patient but apparently a very very small amount of asthma patients do not respond to steroids, breathing treatments ect. So they decided to go onto a bronchscopy, which they did today. Turns out that Kaesyn has floppy airways, which is most common in premature babies. It makes it a little bit more dificult for Kaesyn becasue he has very very narrow airways. The Pulmonolgist said that he had to use a scope they would use for a newborn, and he had a very hard time getting that down. There is no cure for it, they just kind of outgrow it. There are however a few things they can do to make it easier for Kaesyn to breathe which includes, adnoids out. We are waiting for the ENT dr to come in tomorrow to talk to us about that, they just arent sure if it would work well on Kaesyn due to his very abnormal narrow airways. They also took albuterol off his medication list so nwo we are just on pulmicort and atravent from his nebulizer. My boy is such a trooper, I will never forget the way he looked when I got to see him after the procedure. He was sittin in a little crib like a big boy, with his oxygen in hooked up to monitors and his IV just smiling away. He had a hard time and it took longer than usual, and is still lon oxygen since it gets a little low. But not too bad! So now we have answers, and all we can do is play it day to day, being thankful to the Lord that it was nothing serious!! They do plan on doing a few more procedures, but Im not sure if they are doing that yet. Again I am so thankful and bless for my children, they amaze me everyday!! So with all this said and done, I think I am going to cry my eyes out for all the times I wanted to but knew I had to stay strong!! lol!
