So last Sunday, I took Kaesyn to the ER due to him not being able to stop coughing (one of his worse coughing episodes) We got sent home because the DR said it was "just a virus". This kid has asthma and other stuff, so it was really irritating that yah it might be just a virus to some children but this "virus" was making my son to where he could hardly breath. We went to bed that night, got up Monday morning, and he couldnt stop coughing still, I called the nurse advice line, and she said she would have the pulmonologist on call, call us. So we recieved that call and he heard Kaesyns coughing and having a hard time breathing. He said to get him to the nearest ER (which was the ER we had been to the day before) so that they could start the process of evaluating and transferring him to childrens mercy in kansas city mo. So I take him up there, and they have no doubt that Kaesyn needs to be admitted, he had this nasty rash all over him, he was listless, and could barely breath. His oxygen level was 92-93 so it wasnt horrible. We finally get to our room, and they get the anesthesiologist to give him his IV and when they go it in, the cathetor got kinked so they ended up taking it out. My grandpa, the only person I had for help this day was getting ready to go on a business trip and had to bring my 6 year old daughter up to the hospital. She stayed with us that night. Our family DR came in Tuesday and was going to let us go home, but his oxygen was still low. Later Tuesday night we got it up to 100% which was SUPER exciting to us, since its rarely comes above 95%. The three of us went to sleep and when they came in to do vitals, it was reallly low like below 89% so they rushed him in oxygen. The next day it was hard to keep his oxygen stable enough to let us go, I finally found the courage to ask a dear friend to take Gabby for the night Wednesday night. That poor girl was stuck in a hospital room for 48 hours, and she did GREAT. Not many 6 year olds would be as cooperative and patient as she was. Ohhh I am so blessed to have her as my daughter! Thursday came around and he was doing better, but we did notice his oxygen falls when he is asleep, so they are thinking maybe some type of a sleep apnea. Our Dr wanted us to stay until he had 24 hours with no help of oxygen. Friday it was still low, but it was normal for him so they let us go home. I was of course SOOO HAPPY to go home, take a shower (yes itd been 5 days since I had a shower!!!!!!) eat a home cooked meal and chill out on the couch, but at the same time I was scared. His oxygen has been staying at around 94-95% and we have the occasional 98-99%!!! When he is asleep I have noticed it go down to 86%. I am not sure as of what to do, since I can not just wake him up take him to the ER, because then itd go back up. We have an appointment with the pulmonoligist February 2nd, so we will know more then. Its time for a breathing treatment!
